Mateus Hotel is taking over the two upper floors of Independente Lisboa-Bica, Independente’s new property set in an old guesthouse built in 1849. Right in the midst of the lively Rua de São Paulo, the heart of Lisbon’s creative and nightlife scene.
It features 13 rooms, a bar, a restaurant and a 2-bedroom penthouse, where the stage is always set for amazing events of all sorts, offering an out-of-the-box experience for both locals and in the know travelers.
Rooms
Featuring 13 rooms inspired by the rosé shades and fun side of Mateus, which integrate the philosophy and simplicity of Japanese interior design. Each room bestows an inspirational journey into the life and story of the iconic wine brand. Within these walls you will find yourself immersed in the unique chapters of its 80-year old history, with every single room portraying individual milestones and particular memories.
Penthouse
The stunning penthouse will offer weekly experiences from intimate music sessions to poetry readings, art experiences, stand-up comedy and more. The rich cultural calendar is set to mark the Lisbon scene and can be pre-booked online.
Bica-San
Faithful to the brand’s DNA in creating places that unite locals and travelers, the lobby and the restaurant at Independente Bica coexist in the same space. The hotel reception extends and becomes an izakaya with an inspiring food and drinks offering as well as specialty coffee. Bica-San, the lobby’s restaurant, is set to thrill you with its Japanese inspired Portuguese food.
